My work explores the structure of film and narrative. The animations have been made using a combination of hand rendered watercolour drawings and digital drawn images using a graphics tablet.
I experiment with different images and pacing to consider the relationship between drawing and film. My drawings are composed through the perspective of a camera lens and the visual language of film, arthritis which explores shift in focus, recipe and depth of field. My work contrasts the urban and rural landscapes and invites the viewer to contemplate the differing environments. By projecting onto a large scale and using ambient sound I aim to give the viewer an immersive experience.
Artists such as L.S Lowry, Anselm Kiefer and the filmmaker Steve McQueen have influenced my drawings. I take inspiration from early cinema using state of the art technology, simplifying the work and referring us back to the fundamentals of filmmaking techniques.
