Dom Callaghan, the recipient of the 2013 Platform Award, has recently completed his 12 month professional development programme and thanked everyone involved for the opportunities Platform has given him. He now hands over to Sophie Dixon Platform Award winner 2014.

In signing off, Dom says:

‘It was a fantastic year of working and learning, and I would not be in a position to be making work and having creative freedom if it weren’t for Platform.’

Dom is now pursuing a number of projects that reflect his broad areas of interest across the handmade, craft and social art practice(s). More of his work can be seen on his website http://domcallaghan.com.

Sophie Dixon has recently been successful in applying for a cross boarder residency opportunity in Lens, France. Developed in partnership with Margate (Kent County Council) the residency forms part of a programme connected to the recently opened Louvre-Lens Museum. Sophie and her collaborator, Thibault Jehanne, will spend 3-6 weeks in Lens before returning to the South East to produce a final work for exhibition at a later stage – more information on where and when as it becomes available.

Following a successful stint at Blast Theory as a volunteer earlier this year, helping produce their forthcoming app KAREN http://www.blasttheory.co.uk/news-item/karen-is-coming-soon/, Sophie will return to the Portslade Studios in April to take up one of their residency opportunities.
