Emma Richardson graduated this year from the University of Northampton with a BA (Hons) Painting & Drawing. Painting is a key aspect of Richardson’s practice. Her work explores the uncanny and the vulnerable, often inspired by the film and TV director David Lynch’s work, with his dystopian and surreal vision of suburbia. Her process involves generating digital collages using Photoshop. The distortions found in the photographic imagery are incorporated into her paintings to create unsettling effects. Emma will be presenting a selection of her paintings alongside life-study drawings. Her painting Disturbia I was recently amongst those favourited by the Guardian’s Picture Editor from works submitted to the Student Express feature about students’ end of year artwork.
