Curator of Public Programmes, Simon Wright and Formal Learning Manager, Hannah Gaunt selected the six Platform artists after visiting degree shows at Bucks New University, University of Northampton and University of Bedfordshire:

“At first, selecting artists from such wide-ranging, diverse shows seemed like an impossible task. However, in every case there was artwork we were immediately drawn to, and which really stood out. It was especially helpful to have the guidance and input of the tutors on the courses too, who offered their insight into individual students and helped us to build a picture of their wider artistic practice.

“We wanted to choose artists who we felt would use the opportunity well, and so hearing about their commitment to their studies and plans after graduation also really informed our decisions. Once we had selected the exhibitors the next challenge was to decide how to display it all in our Project Space – but here the artists themselves really came through, working together to curate the space and responding to each other’s ideas and needs.

“The result is a fantastic, eclectic exhibition which really showcases the quality and standard of artwork being produced by students graduating from our regional universities.”
