Towner is recruiting for a full time permanent Head of Exhibitions.

This exciting role will lead on the delivery of the contemporary exhibitions programme, ed identifying commissioning opportunities, patient partners and artists’ professional development.
Working with the Executive Director and Head of Collections, the Head of Exhibitions will develop a world class exhibitions programme that will appeal to broad and diverse audiences and has a relevance to Towner, our Collection and location.

The Head of Exhibitions will also work with the Senior Manager Team on delivering Towner’s three-year Business Plan, developing and defining the future strategy and direction of the gallery.


We are looking for applicants with significant experience and a proven track record in delivering successful exhibitions to an international standard, excellent knowledge of contemporary and modern art and, preferably, experience of working for a collection-based gallery. You will have experience of commissioning and supporting artists at different stages of their careers, commitment to learning and engagement within galleries and proven success in securing funding.


This is a permanent role and is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probation period.


Salary: £32,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work.
